Hi, it depends on different things.
Price, linux is cheaper than windows server 2008, which is quite cool in my opinion.
Stability depends completely on the hardware of the machine, if u have hardware thats very linux compatible then it might be more stable.
Security, any OS can get broken in to sorry.

SECURITY. I am a huge windows person but in web hosting, Linux beats. it is almost impossible to hack into a Linux

If you don’t know the difference , then it probably won’t matter. Linux supports alot of Ecommerce and content management systems that windows doesn’t. There is a thing called “cpanel” that is full of cool features for linux hosting, you can install your website in seconds using cpanel and “Fantastico” which features 1-click install of :

Mambo
Wordpress
and alot of other stuff that windows hosting probably won’t support.
